I knew that I had the perfect chance to really explore street photography.
Through an incredibly fortuitous series of events, I ended up housesitting in London for two weeks during a bout of incredible weather. I had no external meetings scheduled for work, so I knew if I could wake up early and be productive, I’d be able to grab my camera and head out for the rest of the day.
So, that’s exactly what I did.
This trip is something I’ll look back on as truly important for me in my photography journey. Not only did I get braver with approaching strangers for shooting opportunities, I really started to fall in love with street photography and test out the limits of what was achievable with my setup at the time.
I shot a mixture of Ilford HP5 Plus and Kodak Gold 200, and exclusively used my Pentax SFXn.
I was based around the Borough Market area, and spent much of my days roaming around Southbank, Spitalfields, Marylebone and Brixton.
I also managed to shoot a special documentary project with Hugh Wedderburn, a master woodcarver, whilst in London – you can see that project here.
