Monochrome forces you to understand light and contrast.

I think every film photographer should spend some time shooting in black and white – it’s slowly becoming, despite my initial reluctance to the format, my strong favourite.

It’s cheaper to buy, cheaper to process, and makes me really consider each shot in a way I don’t do when I can hide behind the wonderful gold tones of colour film.

I’ll be adding to this collection regularly – the vast majority of these shots will be from Ilford HP5 Plus, my favourite b/w film stock.

It’s cheap, reliable, available everywhere that sells film, and looks absolutely fantastic.
